Cold Turkey

談到80年代走紅的Andy Gibb因毒品而毀掉事業、賠上性命，不得不讓人想起這首歌曲。



所謂cold turkey，指的是採取斷然戒斷某種癮頭(尤其指毒癮)的行為，以及戒斷過程中人們所經歷身心上的痛苦煎熬。這裡有維基的解釋。

John Lennon原本邀請Beatles其他成員一起錄製這首曲子，想放在Abbey Road專輯中，但被拒絕了。最後John組了另一個樂團The Plastic Ono Band完成錄音，並以單曲發行。在1969年的The Toronto Rock and Roll Revival Show，John演唱了這首歌，當時偕同演出的還有Eric Clapton(guitar)，Klaus Voorman(bass)以及Alan White(drums)。John曾邀請Eric Clapton加入樂團，但被後者拒絕了。這裡可以看當時的實況。

這首歌是John Lennon以自身戒毒的經驗所寫成的曲子，最後一大段呻吟叫喊其實是表達戒毒過程的痛苦難耐，因而吶喊出聲。諷刺的是，許多人卻將其當成吸毒後High起來的呻吟聲，這也讓這首曲子被許多媒體列入禁播名單。
